Climbing for Good: Volunteer at Our Courageous Kids Events This Year

At Coeur Climbing, we believe the wall has a way of breaking down barriers — for beginners, for kids, for people who never thought they'd try it. That belief is exactly why we love partnering with Courageous Kids Climbing.

Who Is Courageous Kids Climbing?

Courageous Kids Climbing (CKC) is an Idaho nonprofit with a straightforward and powerful mission: provide free climbing experiences to children and adults with physical or intellectual special needs. Their events serve participants from 3 months to 103 years old, held throughout Idaho, Washington, and beyond.

Climbing offers real benefits for people with developmental challenges — it builds problem-solving skills, improves focus and coordination, and grows confidence in a way few activities can. For participants with physical limitations, CKC gives them the chance to experience the vertical world, often for the first time.

We've hosted CKC events at Coeur before, and every single one has been a reminder of why this sport matters and what it can do for people.

Two Events at Coeur This Year — and We Need Your Help

CKC is returning to Coeur Climbing twice in 2026, and both events need volunteer coaches to make them happen!

  • Sunday, May 3, 12–2 PM

  • Saturday, September 12, 12–2 PM

Volunteer coaches help participants get on the wall safely, offer encouragement, and make the experience memorable. You don't need to be an expert climber — just someone willing to show up, be patient, and cheer people on.

If you're interested in volunteering for either event, reach out to Jeff at courageouskidsclimbing@gmail.com.

Why It's Worth Your Afternoon

These events are genuinely one of the most meaningful things that happen in this gym. Watching someone summit the wall for the first time — especially someone who faces real obstacles to get there — is the kind of thing that sticks with you.

If you've been looking for a way to give back to the community through climbing, this is it.

Learn more about Courageous Kids Climbing on their Facebook page, or email Jeff directly to sign up.
