Summer Climbing Camp at Coeur Climbing: Parent FAQS
Summer is full of choices. If you're weighing whether climbing camp is the right fit for your kid, this post answers the questions we hear most often — so you can register with confidence.
What Age Groups Does Climbing Camp Serve?
Coeur Climbing's summer camps are open to kids ages 5 through 14.
Camp is split into two age groups to make sure the experience is appropriate and fun for every kid:
Ages 5–9
Ages 9–14
Both groups run Monday through Friday, 9AM to 12:30PM, on the same weekly schedule — which makes it easy for families with kids in different age ranges to attend the same week.
What Do Kids Actually Do at Camp?
Each day includes climbing instruction, games, activities, and active play — all without screens.
Campers get daily climbing tips from experienced staff, but camp isn't just about technique. The goal is for kids to have fun, build confidence, and leave the week feeling like climbers. A typical day includes time on the walls, structured games and activities, and a daily snack.
Everything takes place at Coeur Climbing in Post Falls, so kids spend the week in a real climbing gym environment — not a school gymnasium or community center.
When Does Camp Run?
2026 summer camp sessions run June 22 through August 28, with nine weekly sessions available.
There is no camp the week of June 29 – July 3 in observance of the holiday. Every other week is available:
June 22–26
July 6–10
July 13–17
July 20–24
July 27–31
August 3–7
August 10–14
August 17–21
August 24–28
Families can register for one week or multiple weeks depending on their summer schedule.
How Much Does Camp Cost?
Camp is $220 per camper for members and $250 for non-members.
Tuition covers all necessary gear, instruction, daily snacks, and a gift from Coeur Climbing — so there's nothing extra to buy or bring for the climbing portion of the day.
If your family isn't currently a member, it's worth noting that a family membership could offset the price difference across multiple kids or multiple weeks. It also means your kids can keep climbing all summer outside of camp hours.
What Is the Emerge Art Camp Add-On?
The Emerge Art Camp add-on extends the camp day from 12:30PM to 2:30PM with an afternoon of art instruction led by Emerge CDA.
Emerge CDA is a nonprofit art studio based in Coeur d'Alene. Their instructors come on-site to run the afternoon session, which gives families who need a longer day — or kids who love art — a great option to extend the experience.
The add-on is $125 per camper and is available during select weeks:
July 6–10 (ages 9–14)
July 13–17 (ages 5–9)
August 3–7 (ages 9–14)
August 17–21 (ages 5–9)
Not every week has an art camp session, and age group availability varies — so check the schedule when you register if this is something your family is interested in.
Does My Kid Need Climbing Experience?
No prior climbing experience is needed.
Camp is designed to meet kids where they are. Whether your child has never touched a climbing wall or has already been coming to open gym with you on weekends, the instruction and activities are structured to challenge and engage every skill level. Staff are experienced working with young climbers and know how to make the walls feel approachable — even for kids who are a little nervous at first.
What's Included in the Cost?
Tuition includes all climbing gear, instruction, daily snacks, and a gift from Coeur Climbing.
Families don't need to bring or rent any equipment. Everything your child needs for the climbing portion of the day is provided. Just send them in comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes, and they're good to go.
