Now Hiring Summer Camp Head Counselor - Coeur Climbing Co

PAY: $14/hour

HOURS:

  • 20-25 hours per week

  • Camp Dates: Monday-Friday, June 23 - August 22, 2025

  • Camp Time: 9am-12:30 pm (arriving 30 min. early and staying 15-30 min after)

  • A Summer Camp Head Counselor works on a seasonal part-time basis facilitating weekly summer camps. A Head Counselor oversees camp climbers, implements weekly camp schedules, and gives exceptional customer service to participants and parents. Head Counselors help create an exciting, playful, and safe environment while instilling a love for climbing in our campers! We are seeking self-motivated and enthusiastic applicants to join the Coeur Climbing team!

    • Must be 16 or older

    • Must have at least 2 years climbing experience and show a strong enthusiasm for climbing

    • Ability to work with a large group of kids, ages 5-14

    • Experience with coaching, programming, or facilitating required

    • Experience working with children is preferred, but not required

    • Ability to put immediate needs of participants first

    • Ability to command respect, enforce safe climbing practices, recognize unsafe conditions, and discuss any concerns with fellow counselors and campers in a professional manner

    • Comfortable working in a loud environment on a regular basis

    • Comfortable speaking in front of and providing instruction to large groups

    • Comfortable working at height, moving up and down a climbing wall

    • Comfortable continuously standing and walking on unstable and uneven surfaces for long periods of time

    • Able to repeatedly lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs of weight on a regular basis

  • The Front Desk Staff will participate with the front desk team to maintain memberships, customer service, sales, and daily cleaning duties. Additionally, they will monitor the floor to ensure adherence to safety standards.

  • Participates in the daily responsibilities for each desk staff member to ensure proper coverage for all needs

    Welcomes guests and members ensuring proper check-ins

    Oversees check-ins ensuring active memberships, appropriate paperwork for each guest, and updating customer information

    Answers phones, takes messages, returns missed calls, obtains price quotes for groups/parties, and answers basic facility questions

    Communicates upcoming community events, clinics, and competitions with members

    Assists with sales work by maintaining stocking of snacks, merchandise, and updating inventory

    Responsible for cash handling, opening and closing register and balancing drawer

    Ensures completion of daily cleaning duties such as vacuuming, mopping, stocking paper products in bathrooms, and general cleaning of facility

    Performs walk-throughs of the facility, noting areas of risk such as boulder pad damage, belay tags on guests, improper belay technique, auto belay checks, offering basic climbing instruction to new guests

    Helps find subs for staff that call out of work or fill in as needed

    Addresses any unsafe behavior observed; running children, guests and gear sitting on pads, etc

    Performs lead and top rope belay tests in accordance with Coeur Climbing Co standards

    Projects a positive image of the company to employees, customers, and community

    Performs other related duties as assigned

    Cleans routinely the entire facility – especially bathrooms, locker rooms, entry, all flooring & pads.

    Assists with deliveries, retail, and merchandising.

    Delivers bouldering and roped climbing orientations and conducts floor walks.

    Participates in the hiring and training of front desk staff

    Ensures each guest is receiving excellent customer service

    Proactively leads by example in the daily cleanliness of the facility

    Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive

STATUS: Part time

PAY: $25/hour (Most classes are 1 hour long with 5-10 minutes of set up and cleanup)

HOURS:

  • ~2-8 hr/wk; training beginning Immediately

  • Hours of operation: Monday through Friday 10am-10pm, Sat 10am-7pm, Sunday 11am-7pm

BENEFITS:

  • 4 free gym day pass/mo (provided the instructor teaches at least one class per week)

  • This position is open to certified yoga instructors. Instructors are required to organize and facilitate their classes. Instructors are required to maintain and set up the yoga room prior to instruction and clean upon completion. Planning of class sequencing and music will be the responsibility of the instructor. Coeur Climbing Co will extend all class sessions as long as the signup exceeds 5 participants. If attendance consistently drops below this threshold, instructors will be asked to change their class time or drop the class. Instructors will have the ability to teach multiple classes per week depending on this criteria and in conjunction with other scheduling use of the studio.  Instructors are encouraged to collaborate with Coeur Climbing Co. yoga coordinator and manager to ensure that the studio and the equipment meets their instruction needs. 

  • We will be collecting applications through early March and, shortly after, will begin interviews. We hope to have all positions filled by April 15th.

  • Coeur Climbing Co is looking to employ experienced and certified yoga instructors with knowledge of the history, philosophy, and ethics of their craft. The yoga instructor is responsible for teaching and leading their class using clear verbal cues, accurate demonstration, with the ability to adapt the postures to the skill and accessibility of the student.

    To ensure success as a yoga instructor, you should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to build relationships, as well as lead yoga classes. Your passion for health and wellness, coupled with knowledge of the anatomy of the human body and physiology, will ensure success.

    • Must be 18 or older

    • HS Diploma or equivalent

    • A passion for yoga and general fitness

    • Climbing experience is not required; ability to tailor classes to the needs of our climbing community will be beneficial.

    • RYT-200, from a Yoga Alliance Certified School or equivalent certification

    • Minimum of 1 year experience required, 2 years or more preferred
