ADAPTIVE CLIMBING COMING TO COEUR
Coeur Climbing Co hosted its first adaptive climbing clinic on July 22nd in collaboration with Craig and Cyndy of Adaptive Adventures from Boulder, Colorado. 3 kids participated from ParaSport Spokane - Peyton, Brooklyn, and Rowan. Craig and Cyndy shared their expertise in the adaptive climbing field, teaching our staff how to correctly rig ropes and facilitate climbing for our 3 para-sport participants. All three kids had a fantastic time climbing our walls and ascending a rope to the ceiling.
There is a tremendous need to support these individuals and their families in the Inland Northwest, and Coeur Climbing is in a great position to meet that need with indoor climbing instruction. Rock climbing is an excellent way to help people with disabilities overcome their many challenges and give them the confidence to take on other adventures. With the new tools and equipment that Craig and Cyndy showed our staff how to use, we feel confident that we can begin offering climbing sessions and instruction to adaptive climbers in early September, after the school year is underway. We plan to initially work with groups like ParaSport Spokane and then expand to include other groups with disabilities. We’re enthusiastic about giving back to the community and making the sport of climbing accessible to everyone willing to give it a try!
