Daniel began climbing in indoor gyms in Texas in the 1990’s during college but quickly moved his passion to the outdoors. After attaining a degree in Engineering and a master’s in Earth Science Education, Daniel began work as a climbing guide and gear store employee, pursuing his climbing ambitions.
He and his wife Alyssa moved to Coeur d’Alene in 2006 so that she could begin her family practice medical career and Daniel taught middle school math and science. In 2009, they had the first of three boys and Daniel stopped teaching to stay home and raise them. During that time, he continued to coach, instruct, and pursue personal climbing goals with the idea of starting a full-service climbing gym when his boys were all in school. Coeur Climbing Company is the fruition of over two decades of his preparation to bring year-round climbing to the community he loves.
